On Wednesday 24th September Miss Needham and Mr Shaw were lucky enough to get an invite to Nottingham University to examine their extraordinary chemistry work, giving Year 5 and 6 pupils the opportunity to have a real hands on experience.
Here is what the pupils had to say:
We were guided by a chemistry researcher and were shown around the laboratory where the University students were lectured. They showed us several experiments such as:
Putting potassium in a test tube and it reflected just like a mirror. The next thing we did was to throw liquid nitrogen onto the floor and use our feet to hit the surface and watched it turn into a gas.
We then also put carbon dioxide into a canon and watched it explode across the room.
“We had such an amazing time at this enormous school of chemistry.”
