National Video Game Arcade – Trip Year 2-Part 2

The National Video Game Arcade yesterday invited pupils from our Year 2 class. We have been invited back due to the great success and representation of St.Joseph’s School. We are very proud of the children that visited the Game Arcade. Throughout the day the children had an amazing opportunity to work with Jonathan Smith (Head of Production) a Videogame developer from Lego Videogames. Jonathan has developed Lego games such as; Lego Star Wars and Lego Indiana Jones.

Jonathan led a workshop which encouraged children to develop and design their very own version of the popular 70s’ game ‘Pong’. This was done using the software Scratch; which children are given a list of commands in order to piece together code to develop the game. We must say that we are very proud at what the children had achieved throughout the session and believe it was an amazing opportunity for the children here at St.Joseph’s to work with such an inspiring Game developer.

After the workshop the children had the opportunity to play Videogames from various generations and were given the chance to speak to some of the developers that helped design some of the games available at the Game Arcade. The staff even enjoyed going back in time to play the games they once loved.

We would like to thank all the staff at The National Video Game Arcade for a wonderful experience and hope to see them all again.
