Hollies (year 3 and year 4)

Our Learning

In English this term the Hollies are reading The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. We will be completing a variety work surrounding this topic including poetry, reading comprehension and imaginative writing.

In Maths, we will be looking at place value, followed by addition and subtraction and then to end the first term we will be looking at multiplication and division.

In humanities we will be studying the Iron Age. We will be looking at chronology and where the Iron Age fits in British history timeline. Throughout this term we will be exploring daily life during the Iron Age and working towards creating a final presentation to showcase what they have learnt.

The science topics we will be exploring this term include states of matter and electricity.

To support the children with working scientifically they will be conducting some practical experiments.

This term will be looking at the topic ‘be yourself’ where we will be exploring what makes people unique and different for PSHE.

For RE the children will be learning about Hinduism and Christianity this term and in art we will be exploring a range of techniques and materials based on the topic of the Iron Man and robots.
