Our Learning
In Maths this summer term, we will be learning about fractions/decimals, time, money, shape, statistics and position and direction.
In English our class reader for this term is The Boy Who Grew Dragons. We will be completing a variety of work linked to this, such as writing letters, poetry, reading comprehension, descriptive writing and news reports. Alongside this we will continue to explore various grammar and punctuation skills.
The focus for humanities this term is history, we will be studying the Vikings and Anglo-Saxons. We will be looking at the chronology of the time period, who they were, what they did and what they believed in.
In science we are continuing to explore living things and their environments.
In PSHE this term we are continuing with the topic ‘Diverse Britian’ and exploring subjects such as the British Values and human rights and then will be moving on to learn more about different types of families.
In RE the children have been continuing their learning about Islam, then we will be moving on to learn about Judaism.
In art we will be exploring a range of techniques and materials based on the topic of dragons and strange creatures.
In DT this term we will be exploring health and safety in the kitchen and then designing, making and evaluating a healthy desert.
PE Details
PE is twice a week on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Enrichment Opportunities
Each week the children have the opportunity to read with Breeze the labradoodle, as well as being able to attend a variety of clubs. The clubs include recorders, archery, drama, German, dodgeball and coding clubs. The class also receives specialist lessons in French, art and music.
Homework
Each week, the children will receive maths activities linked to our current learning, spellings and an additional creative writing piece. Information can be found on our Hollies Class Dojo page.
