Hollies (year 3 and year 4)
Our Learning
Autumn Term
In Maths, we will be looking at place value, followed by addition and subtraction and then to end the first term we will be looking at multiplication and division.
Our class reader this term is The Witch of Blackberry Bottom and all our English work will revolve around this text. This will then be followed by additional work on myths and legends. We will also be continuing to focus on grammar and handwriting during our English lessons throughout the year. We have also introduced partnered reading which focuses heavily on building reading comprehension and fluency skills.
The focus for humanities this term is history; we will be studying history local to Nottingham as well as the Stuarts.
The science topic we will be investigating is light and shadows. This will be done through practical and written tasks.
This term will be looking at the topic ‘Aiming High’ in PSHE and learning about how to achieve goals and build a positive growth mind-set.
In RE the children will be learning about religious scriptures across multiple religions and focusing on their similarities and differences.
In art we will be exploring a range of techniques and materials based on the topic of cats and fireworks.
