Hollies (year 3 and year 4)

Our Learning

In Maths, we have started to look at multiplication and division and are continuing with length and perimeter and fractions.

English- Before half term we read Evie and the Jungle, and we are now focusing on The Great Kapok Tree. We will follow this with a fun animation called Toki’s Rite of Passage. Using these texts, we will be covering a wide range of English skills such as letter writing, poetry, predictions, creative writing and comprehension questions. Humanities Our humanities topic this term links directly with the English, the focus being rainforests. We have been looking at the different types of forests, where they are located and the types of animals and plants found there. We are continuing to learn about rainforests and the effects of deforestation. Science- In science we have been learning about plants, and we had a go at growing our own cress and mint leaves. Now we are moving on to explore living things and their environments. PSHE- This term will be looking at the topic ‘Diverse Britian’ and exploring subjects such as the British Values and human rights. RE- The children have been continuing their learning about Christianity, but we are now focusing on Islam.

Art – In art we will be exploring a range of techniques and materials based on the topic of jungles.
