Hollies (year 3 and year 4)

Our Learning

 Spring Term

In Maths, we will be looking at Multiplication and division followed by Length and perimeter and then Fractions, then to end the term we will be looking at Mass and capacity.

Our class reader this term is An Owl Called Star and all our English work will revolve around this text. We will be continuing to focus on grammar and handwriting during our English lessons throughout the year. Having introduced partnered reading which focuses heavily on building reading comprehension and fluency skills we will continue to utilise this programme.

The focus for humanities this term is history; we will be studying history related to the Norman invasion as well as the Normans more broadly.

The science topic we will be investigating is states of matter as well as forces and magnets. This will be done through practical and written tasks.

This term will be looking at the topic ‘Thinking Positive’ in PSHE and learning about how to achieve goals and build a positive growth mind-set.

In RE the children will be learning about how music and silence express religious beliefs across multiple religions and focusing on their similarities and differences as well as holy week.

In art we will be exploring a range of techniques and materials based on the topic of texture and owls.
