Our Learning
Autumn Term
In Maths, we will be focusing on place value counting amounts and representing numbers to 20 then moving onto addition and subtraction.
English- In Autumn 1, we will be focusing on traditional tales and the book the three little pigs. The children will be retelling the story and then innovating it, changing the characters. In Autumn 2, the children will be using their senses to describe the Goose Fair. The children will continue to learn phonics and spelling rules on a weekly basis.
Topic- Our focus will be Geography this term and we will be looking at Nottingham and our local area, recognising urban and rural as well as human and physical features. In History we will be looking at the Goose fair and comparing it in the past to now.
In art- the children will be looking at spirals and investigating them.
In Science, our area of focus will be animals including humans. The children will be learning about the terms herbivores, carnivores and omnivores as well as the difference between mammals, reptiles and fish. We will be focusing on the skill of classification. In Autumn 2 we will be looking at seasons comparing Autumn and Winter and focusing on the Science skill of observation.
In PSHE we will be following the Jigsaw scheme of work, focusing on being me in my world and celebrating differences.
For RE the children will be learning about Hinduism this term and Christianity next term.
In Computing the children will be learning about coding, online safety and spreadsheets.
Home learning- Weekly English and Maths will continue to be set each week on a Friday, please can these be completed and returned. I will send regular reminders and updates on Dojo.
PE Details
PE days for Chestnuts are Thursdays and Fridays.
