Our Learning
Our Topics this Term are….
Minibeasts:
Children will explore a range of Minibeasts such as insects, worms, and spiders. They will learn to name and describe Minibeasts, where they live, and why different habitats are important.
Rainforest and Jungle:
Children will explore the rainforest and jungle as special habitats around the world. They will learn about the hot, wet climate and discover animals, and plants that live there.
In maths this term we will be…
- Alive in 5
- Mass and Capacity
- Growing 6,7,8
- Length, Height and Time
- Building 9 and 10
- Explore 3-D shapes
As writers and readers, we will be…
- Read individual letters by saying the sounds for them.
- Blend sounds into words, so that they can read short words made up of known letter-sound correspondences.
- Form lower-case and capital letters correctly
- Spell words by identifying the sounds and then writing the sound with letter/s.
PSHE: we will be focusing on ‘Dreams and Goals: Aspirations, how to achieve goals and understanding the emotions that go with this’ and ‘Healthy me: Being and keeping safe and healthy’
P.E.: In P.E over the next two terms we will be focusing on Apparatus and ball skills, such as throwing and catching.
UoW: In understanding of the world we will be looking at different types of habitats and exploring our local area.
PE Details
PE days for The Acorns is Monday and Friday.
Homework
Each week, the children will receive homework in their homework books. Each activity is based on what they have been learning about during that week.
Enrichment Activities
Each week the children have the opportunity to take part in super star sports, have specialist Spanish, drama, art and music lessons and participate in weekly activities in their school houses.
